So summer is upon us. The chill is gone from the air. I'm sad and glad, both at the same time. I don't like the cold, but I despise the 100+ degree temperatures that we have to endure here every year. I really wish I lived in a climate where it didn't get over about …

The Crochet Obsession
I am, for all intents and purposes, apparently addicted to making crochet things to sell on Etsy. A friend got me started looking at Etsy, and I had a ton of yarn laying around, so I thought, why not? I should make some things to sell in my spare time. I have always, always loved …
The Dream about the Phone Number
So, we are looking for a new house. We bought our house about 4 years ago, and it was our first house "together", although both of us had been homeowners previously. It's a beautiful house, and we could honestly stay here for a long time, but since our kids are growing up and moving out, …
Being a Mom at 40

Being a mom at 40 means, for me anyway, that I have a grown child living on his own, not with me anymore. Sometimes this makes me sad, but most of the time, I'm very proud that I gave him whatever he needed to be able to leave home and be on his own. This photo is of my son, Ken, me, and his girlfriend, McKinsey last Christmas. Ken is now 21, and I am very proud to be his mom. We went to eat there several weeks ago, and I ordered a ch
Yard Machines are the Devil
Yard machines are the devil, I believe. My neighbor has taught me this. How? By using them incessantly for hours on end. They make these really cool, Earth-friendly gadgets called rakes. I think I'll buy him 15 for Christmas.Really, yard machines are supposed to be helpful, but a lot of folks don't know how to …
Book Contests & A Million Emails
Last weekend, a student from my school with good intentions decided to have a contest to loan one of her supplements to another student. The responding students merely had to answer a few philosophical questions in order to be the lucky winner of the use of the supplement for next fall. First, you are probably wondering …
ExamLand – Hop On! It’s Fun (not)
Well, tonight marks my last exam for the spring semester. Counting summers, I have 8 down and three to go. I will have 20 days of sweet freedom after this semester, before summer school starts, and I am looking forward to it. Tonight is Family Law. Now, I have plenty of experience in this arena …
Finals
Oh ye of little faith. Finals are tonight. So, naturally, I'm freaking completely out. Not really. I'm doing okay. Every year, I make up acronyms to go with the various things I have to remember. This year, Heapcars and FLIGRRR are my two for Pre-Trial. Heapcars just happens to be the list of the exceptions …
