Ken Gilbert. He inspired me to get out of my shell and not be shy. Without him, I would not be as successful as I am today. He was a salesman for a national seed company, and we would go to trade shows and meet tons of people. Since I was a little, or a lot shy, and one of the only younger females around about 10,000 men for the day, he would stick me out in front of the booth to attract business. This is something I was actually good at, so I just eventually got used to being in front of people. In college, I even took an acting class, before I really knew him, and that helped as well, but he is the one who really brought me out of my shell.
Now I have no trouble speaking in front of large groups of people, running the tours of my work on our new building at work, and being brave in other social situations. I would never have been able to do these things otherwise.
