Today, we went to Lowe’s for my daily “brief break” from bar prep. Every day, we try to do something that makes me feel human if only for a wee while. Today’s adventure took us to Lowe’s because I wanted to buy some bird seed, a bird feeder, and some potting soil for two different human-esque projects. The little rental house we have right now is very nice, and we have tons of birds chirping all the time. I wanted to entice them into our yard, so I decided a bird feeder was the way to go. We bought one, filled it up, and now it’s hanging from a tree just waiting on its first customer. I’m so excited! This is what life is like. I think after four long years of law school, I’ve forgotten what the rest of the world does on the weekends. It’s certainly not bar prep or reading contracts!
We also went to look at a lawn tractor, for our new land has such a vast amount of grass that is nearly impossible to mow with our little lawn mower we have at present. I guess it will have to fit in our garage, as there is nowhere else to really store it right now, and I certainly don’t want the thing to get stolen. They are not inexpensive, and it makes me ill just thinking about spending that much on a lawn mower. I think the last time I bought one, I paid about $150 total and called it good. With said lawn tractor, we have to of course have a trailer to haul the thing from point A to point B. The trailer doesn’t need to be huge, but it does need to be large enough to actually get it to the property safely. Thus, another $500 or so is about to spent on that, I fear. But, we will have to have it anyway if we have that property, so we might as well bite the bullet now when we have the cash on hand.
This afternoon will be spent doing more bar prep, but this morning’s jaunt was enough to make my mind feel better about the next three arduous weeks ahead. If I can get through these next few weeks and actually succeed at passing the bar, I won’t have to do this again and that will feel most fantastic. Right now, my average score on my MBE questions is probably around 60%, which I think is pretty good, given that my last substantive lecture was night before last. I am ahead of where I should be, which is good, as it provides me with plenty of time to go over the fine points of various subjects, getting them down-pat in preparation for the big day. It will be the hardest test I’ve ever taken, I’m sure, but it will also be the one I’ve prepared for the most. I feel pretty darn good about that.
Here’s hoping you and yours have a nice and relaxing Saturday.
