Wow. Being a 3L is soooo much better than being a 1 or even a 2L. Why? Because you don’t take yourself so seriously and you don’t feel like you have to read the cases as closely because you’ve read so many of them before, literally. Like this weekend. I had about 8 cases to read for 2 classes, plus additional material non-case related. Of the 8, I had read 7 in previous classes, so this reading was merely a refresher course in the material. Pretty sweet. I was able to read over 160 pages last night in about 4 hours. Not too bad. I read very fast anyway, but last night it was just phenomenal. Of course, the house was super quiet, which helped a lot, and both Sweetie and I were reading (he a novel on his Kindle, me my school stuff), so it was nice. I didn’t feel like I was missing out on something.
So, today, I got to do whatever I wanted to do. I didn’t really want to go to the grocery store, but it was a nice experience because I got to use one of the little shopping carts, which I love. I was also called a “young lady” by one of the clerks, which made me smile. Seeing as I’m 40, anyone who calls me “young” has a leg up in my book.
I also went to the Chinese laundry to get my pants that I had taken up, and to a craft store to get a bit more yarn. I think it’s becoming an obsession. I have made about 10 scarves since Christmas, not counting the one I made for my Mom. I plan to put them on Etsy soon, as I’ve already established an account and everything. I hope they sell, not for the money but for my self-esteem. It’s like if I can make something someone likes, it makes me feel better. I like giving people things I’ve made.
Then I went to pick up the dry cleaning. I realized about halfway into my shopping experience that I had had no caffeine all day. This, of course, led to some grouchiness when I got home, which was exacerbated by the fact that our city, in a large metropolitan area, doesn’t have a cardboard recycling program. Now, in Bonita, they have a program where you can throw just about any recycling items in one can, and they will pick it up. But here, in the NATURAL STATE, they have no such animal. We have to not only sort our recycling but we have to take it somewhere to drop it off. No wonder the bins were nearly empty. I think we are one of about 20 families out of 20,000 who actually use the bins. I wish they would force people to recycle, with a bin at the curb that they pick up weekly, or make people pay $10 extra per week for their trash. They have built two landfills in the past 10 years, one of which is now just about filled. It’s ridiculous.
Anyway, overall it’s been a good day. Most of all, I’m glad that I can go through another day – tomorrow – without any homework. That feels tremendous!
