TOMORROW is the Day: My first day of my last semester of law school!

Tomorrow is the Day. The day I have been waiting for since August 19, 2009. That day was the first day of my first semester of law school. Tomorrow will be my first day of my last semester of law school. I can hardly wait to get started, and I am being totally honest.

It has not been an easy four years. There have been many times when I felt like quitting and just giving up on this crazy dream. I have, like many of my friends, instead stuck it out, hoping some day to graduate and then hopefully pass the bar.

Thankfully, I only lack seven hours to graduate, so I hope to have a much less stressful semester. I am taking only two real classes and one weekend preparing for the bar class, so I hope to make it through unscathed this semester. Last semester was tough, with do I very substantive classes and one hell of a paper the I had to write and finish before the holidays. I persevered, though, and made it through. We still don’t have grades, which is fairly typical, as we won’t get then but later this week most likely. I hope I did okay, and I really really hope I do well enough to hang on to my honor designation. We will see soon.

As I was getting ready for class today, I got my books and notebooks together, gathered up my bag to use this term (I am going with something not so lawyerly to start), downloaded a couple of cases to my Kindle from Westlaw (my favorite way to read cases these days), and felt like it was the first day of kindergarten all over again.

I have always loved school. I love learning, I love being around others who want to learn, and I love having professors who love to teach. I have been very fortunate to have the opportunity to attend law school in the city in which I live, being taught by most excellent and well-accredited law professor both tenured and adjunct, and I have paid cash for the whole thing. I will have ZERO debt when I get out, and that feels really good.

My family has made this sacrifice along with me, so I would be remiss if I didn’t thank them. They know who they are.

Thanks to my friends and law school buddies as well. I could  not have done this without you.

So with 124 days before graduation, I have this bird almost bagged. As a friend at work told me when I started, yo can do just about anything for 100 days. I have been counting them down since 800, and it definitely doesn’t feel like the last 700 have passed so quickly, but they have.

Law school: give it your best shot. You only have one no semester to use your voodoo against me!
